Activity Details

Who Should Participate
This activity is designed for all physicians involved in infectious disease management, including emergency medicine physicians, hospitalists, and surgeons.

Overview
As members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, physicians involved in antibiotic management need to take an active role in their healthcare setting to assist in the implementation of the CDC’s 12-step program to reduce the risk of antimicrobial resistance. This activity is a self-administered assessment intended to assess perceived and actual abilities in a clinical area. Identified antibiotic management competencies from the CDC’s Campaign to Prevent Antimicrobial Resistance will be rated for both current and desired ability, followed by questions related to the competency to provide a more accurate reading of the physician’s ability. Links to various reference sources will allow immediate access to information relative to each competency.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to

  • Assess their current practices against best practices
  • Identify resources for antibiotic management
